Rock is 6m in diameter and covered by 3m of water
Can usually be identified by the swell breaking over it
Points of interest:
responsible for many shipwrecks and strandings over the years
Huge gutters & bommies surround the rock with a number of swim thrus
Extensive kelp covered ledges in which crayfish are sometimes seen hiding
Many schooling fish pass through the area
The wreck of the RMS Australia lies between the rock and Point Nepean. It rammed into the rock going 14.5
knots on 20 June 1904. It stood on the rock for 2 years before sinking into the sea. The wreckage is now widely
scattered over an area approx. 400m West of the Rock Beacon.
